Several generations of Peru residents have wonderful memories of time spent at the old Peru Pool. Aquatic skills were learned through swimming lessons and life guarding classes. Life skills were learned through socialization, which cemented many friendships.
We think future generations should also be able to enjoy what we enjoyed.
We are actively seeking grants, hosting fundraisers, and
We have raised more than $100,000 so far. We still have a long way to go.
If you are willing to help with your time, resources, and/or money, it will be greatly appreciated. Not only by us, but by future generations as they enjoy the new pool.
* If you have any photos of the Peru Pool, we would really appreciate it if you would let us post them here. Please contact us.
Friends for Peru Pool
With the defeat of the tax referendum we know that building a new pool is in the future. We want to give the children of Peru something to show for our efforts, so we have opted for building the pool complex in 2 stages.
Phase One is a Splash Pad that can be built in 2015. Phase Two is a pool.
We are applying for a Department of Natural Resources grant. If approved, the grant will pay 50% of the cost of the splash pad. We will continue raising money to build a pool. Money that is not used for the splash pad will be available for Phase Two, the pool.
Below is a sample of a splash pad. Click on the image for a larger view.
